Nick Gagliardi

Originally from Minnesota, Nick began his career as a routesetter at Vertical Endeavors from 2014 to 2018 before moving to Colorado to work with Earth Treks. He later relocated to Portland, Oregon, where he took on the role of Director of Routesetting at Portland Rock Gym. There, he was deeply involved in wall design, large-scale hold planning, and the opening hold order for PRG’s Beaverton location.

Alongside his in-house work, Nick has supported other facilities including Big Island Bouldering through gym design consulting, hold ordering, and broader operational guidance. He is active within USAC as a Level 3 routesetter and has set numerous competitions over the years. Nick now works in U.S. hold sales for Setter Closet, where he helps gyms, schools, and training spaces make informed decisions about holds, boards, and overall setting ecosystems.

When he’s not working, Nick can usually be found climbing outside, chasing movement on real rock, or diving deep into fantasy worlds. He brings the same curiosity and enthusiasm to climbing, setting, and consulting that first pulled him into the sport.
